Stiff Chilli is a hidden gem, located in Sanur it was well worth the quick 20 minute drive from Kuta to get there.

Stiff Chilli is right on the beach front, any closer and you would get your shoes wet while you dine. Clear plastic drop blinds stop the strong evening breeze without detracting from the fabulous view of Sanur beach at low tide.

An excellent menu, friendly staff and most importantly great food. The experience at Stiff Chilli is Italian; we started our evening with fresh homemade bread and olive oil while we tried to decide from the vast range of menu choices. I finally settled for the Penne Verdure which proved to be a good decision. Perfectly cooked al dente Penne pasta with a rich but not to heavy blue cheese, bacon and herb sauce, just delicious. I have always been a dubious about ordering wine in a restaurant in Bali as I am not sure all restaurateurs understand the need to protect their wines from the hot Balinese weather. To accompany my pasta I ordered a glass of Biccheredi red wine at Rp.23,000 - another good choice. The wine was perfectly sound, with full fruit and enough weight to make it ideal with the richness of the pasta.

The other meal at our table was also very good. The grilled prawns were whole, split down the centre brushed with oil and garlic then flame grilled. Simple preparation that allowed you to enjoy the delicate flavor of the prawns without any detractions. Enjoyed with an icy cold large Bintang beer at Rp.15,000. To finish off your meal select from the dessert menu or try to decide between the 20 different flavors of Gelato served in crisp waffle cones at only Rp.13,000.

Stiff Chilli is open from 8.00am to 10.30pm which allows you the pleasure of breakfast, brunch, lunch, mid afternoon snack or dinner. A large choice of Pizza’s all cooked in a wood fired oven for around Rp.20,000 The old favorite BLT at only Rp.16,000, Paninni’s, Ciiabatta even a Stiff Chilli hamburger served on a foccaccia, instead of the usual bun.

Breakfast at Stiff Chilli would also be ideal with real cappucinno, espresso or macchiato at Rp.9,000 and eggs benedict. What a way to start the day! In summary our visit to Stiff Chilli was one of the best meals we had during our recent stay. Delicious food, friendly and efficient service, good choice of beverages, scenic location and extremely reasonable prices.
