Barandi is located at the bottom of Monkey Forest Road in central Ubud just up from the intersection with Jalan Hanoman. You have the choice of dining indoors or outside in the very beautiful gardens at the back of the restaurant. The gardens have several water features and the strategically placed candles and garden lights give a very tranquil and romantic setting in which to dine.

Happy hour is 4pm to 8pm each evening; the wine list is extensive and features a wide choice of both local and imported wines at very reasonable prices. Cocktails start at Rp 35,000, long drinks Rp 38,000 large beer Rp17,000 and small Rp 10,000. The beers were served in very tall; very cold larger glasses which on a warm evening made them taste even better.

The menu selection is vast; for starters we sampled the Salmon Ravioli Rp 26,000, Shrimp Lumpia (spring rolls with prawns) Rp 23,000 and shared a Tapas plate Rp 29,000. The Tapas plate featured Balinese grilled chicken, fresh tuna, Guacamole and crispy garlic bread. All were just delicious.

For main course we ordered the Salmon curry pasta: homemade pasta with diced Norwegian salmon, fresh basil and cheese served with a curry sauce Rp 35,000. Ayam Bumbu Manado which was a half grilled chicken simmered in a red curry sauce with Shitake mushrooms Rp 45,000 both dishes where very good. Other main course selections were Grilled T bone steak Rp 55,000 Chicken with orange sauce Rp 42,000 Pork spare ribs Rp 45,000 Sate Ayam, Nasi Goreng and marinated fish wrapped in banana with Indonesian spices.

If you are after just a snack or light lunch there is a wide range of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and vegetarian dishes. Barandi is also open for breakfast between 8.00am and 12noon daily. Service is very attentive and the staff are immaculately dressed in black and white uniforms. We asked numerous questions about the menu and cooking styles on the night we dined at Barandi and the staff were very knowledgeable and able to assist with helping us make menu choices which we were very happy with.
